These six tips will help you get a cheap rental car on your next road trip, whether it’s a fast weekend vacation or an off-road Odyssey.
1. Skip the airport
When you fly to a new city, it’s convenient to rent a house at the airport. However, due to the additional fees charged by the airport, this convenience may bring additional benefits. These surcharges usually appear in fixed dollar figures, typically “customer facility costs”. You may also find that they are part of your total rent, and sometimes you owe them at the same time. These costs are usually a few dollars a day, but they can usually reach three figures according to the length of your trip.

Some companies, such as businesses, exempt spouses or family partners from additional driver fees, but both parties need to have the same address on their driver’s license. Others, including the National Bank, will exempt spouses, partners and immediate family members from fees if you sign up for their membership program.
