You Don’t Have To Spend Your Entire Holiday Budget On Car Leasing

Since the 2019 coronavirus disease (covid-19) pandemic, one of the biggest trends in travel is the return of road travel. However, high demand means that the supply of car rental may be reduced. Not surprisingly, car leasing prices are extremely high – and only if you can find a usable car.

The good news is that you don’t have to spend your entire holiday budget on car leasing.

These six tips will help you get a cheap rental car on your next road trip, whether it’s a fast weekend vacation or an off-road Odyssey.

1. Skip the airport

When you fly to a new city, it’s convenient to rent a house at the airport. However, due to the additional fees charged by the airport, this convenience may bring additional benefits. These surcharges usually appear in fixed dollar figures, typically “customer facility costs”. You may also find that they are part of your total rent, and sometimes you owe them at the same time. These costs are usually a few dollars a day, but they can usually reach three figures according to the length of your trip.

2. Shopping online

Look at websites like kayak, Priceline and cheapcarrental.com, compare your choices, then narrow down and find the most cost-effective deal.

Then go directly to the website of the car leasing company. In this way, you may find greater discounts, especially the “pay now” option. Remember, rent paid in advance is usually non refundable.

3. Switch to discount brands

Enterprise, Hertz and Baji are not the only companies in the city. Discount brands like advantage, payless, thrifty and dollar rental are also competing for your business. Their rents are usually lower than those of big car leasing companies.

Our research shows that one day, the minimum rent of advantage, dollar and other websites is at least $5 cheaper than that of the cheapest high-end brands, depending on the city. This savings will multiply on long trips.

4. Use of members

Become a member of Costco? Use it to save money on your next car rental.

“I’ve found that Costco has always outperformed full price car rental in online travel agencies,” said Clem bason, CEO of goseek.com, a travel website

5. Choose economical vehicles

Economy cars are usually the cheapest, so they are most likely to be booked. ‘you can take advantage of this,’ says Brett Graff, a family finance expert and columnist for the family economist.

“When I rent a car, I keep the smallest and cheapest car as much as possible because I know it may not appear in the parking lot and I will be upgraded,” Graf said

6. Car leasing stick with one driver

Most car leasing companies charge you extra driver fees every day. The cost for enterprise and national car rental is usually $12 per day, while the cost for budget and Avis is $13 per day, but it will vary depending on the location.

However, there are still ways to avoid the cost. Some companies, such as businesses, exempt spouses or family partners from additional driver fees, but both parties need to have the same address on their driver’s license. Others, including the National Bank, will exempt spouses, partners and immediate family members from fees if you sign up for their membership program.
